Maxime Denuc

Maxime Denuc is een componist van elektronische muziek uit Brussel. Hij was medeoprichter van Plapla Pinky, een duo dat bekend staat om hun atypische benadering van clubmuziek, ergens tussen rave, barok en hedendaagse muziek. Ze brachten verschillende platen uit en werden uitgenodigd in clubs en festivals zoals Sonar (ES), Villette Sonique (FR), Club Metro Kyoto (JP), Les Siestes Électroniques (FR) of Today's Art (NL).

Sinds enkele jaren richt zijn solowerk zich op kerkorgels. In 2020 bracht hij Solarium uit op het Belgische label Vlek, een project rond het orgel dat bouwt op de emotionele kracht van de zonsopgang om een ervaring teweeg te brengen die zowel muzikaal als sociaal is. Twee jaar later presenteerde hij Nachthorn, een nieuwe LP voor MIDI-kerkorgel. De plaat werd lovend ontvangen, met name door Boomkat die hem selecteerde in de tien platen van het jaar 2022. Het werd ook gekozen als soundtrack voor de Chanel lente-zomer 2023 Haute-Couture show.

Naast zijn activiteiten als componist werkt Maxime Denuc met podiumkunsten en wijdt hij zich ook aan onderzoek. Hij studeerde in 2019 af met een masterdiploma aan EHESS Parijs in "Theories and Practices of Language and Arts", met als hoofdvak muziek.

Maxime Denuc is an electronic music composer based in Brussels. He co-founded Plapla Pinky, a duo noted for their atypical approach to club music, somewhere between rave, baroque and contemporary music. They released several records and were invited to perform at clubs and festivals such as Sonar (ES), Villette Sonique (FR), Club Metro Kyoto (JP), Les Siestes Electroniques (FR) or Today’s Art (NL).

For some years now, his solo work has focused on church organs. In 2020, he released Solarium on the Belgian label Vlek, an organ-centric venture that relies on the emotional potency of sunrise to spawn an experience that is both musical and social. Two years later, he presented Nachthorn, a new LP for MIDI church organ. The record was critically acclaimed, notably by Boomkat which selected it in the ten records of the year 2022. It has also been chosen as the soundtrack for the Chanel Spring-Summer 2023 Haute-Couture show.

In addition to his composer activities, Maxime Denuc works with performing arts and also devotes himself to research. He graduated in 2019 with a master’s degree from EHESS Paris in “Theories and Practices of Language and Arts”, with a major in music.
